Inside Line Promotions – Mt. POCONO, Pa. (Oct. 11, 2023) – Joey Amantea is making his final micro sprint starts of the season this weekend.
Amantea will do double duty by racing in the wingless and winged classes on Friday at Greenwood Valley Action Tracks in Orangeville, Pa.
“Friday is a pretty big race, at least locally,” he said. “There will be a lot of good cars and a lot of sprint car drivers that I race with will be running it. I’m looking to see what we can do. The last time we were there we came out with a podium.”
Amantea cut his teeth competing in micro sprints, but has phased out the division the last couple of years as he has expanded his non-wing sprint car program. Additionally, toward the end of this season Amantea has added 410ci winged sprint car races for the first time.
As Amantea focuses on the bigger race cars more often the emphasis when climbing behind the wheel of a micro sprint is simple: just have fun.
“It’s just fun to do it whenever,” he said. “There’s so much of it there’s no reason not to do it when we don’t have something on the schedule. Plus, it’s nice to see people I know and talk to. It’s a reunion in a sense this weekend.
“It’s nice to not have the pressure. We’re going for a good time and to have some fun.”
